Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication is a Knowledge Management Center organized in 1980 as a graduate school of journalism, founded on the philosophy that communication is a vital development resource to be used to advance the common good.

Today, Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication has a solid record of more than thirty years in the communication field – as a graduate school for communicators and journalists, a center for continuing education in journalism, communication, and knowledge management, and a research and consulting firm advocating policies and implementing programs and projects that address development issues and concerns both at the levels of national decision-making and community-based initiatives.

The ICT for Development (ICT4D) Unit of Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication promotes the strategic use of ICT in various human development endeavors. Program areas include content development, capability-building, and research focused on the impact of ICT on the socio-cultural, economic and political dimensions of society.

Amidst the technology-driven shifts in today’s media landscape, Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication has strengthened its institutional capacity through its strategic alliance with Information Capital Technology Ventures, Inc. (ICTV), a publicly-listed telecommunication, media and technology company. Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication’s office at España, Manila is located within the hub of an ICT complex, which houses the main headquarters of ICTV. ICTV affiliates include information technology companies such as NowPlanet.TV, Holy Cow Animation, Softweb, Softrigger Interactive, IResource, NextMobile Inc., JSpan, with whom Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication has collaborative endeavors.

Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication is now gearing up to reinvent its programs and services to make them relevant and responsive to a fast-evolving Knowledge Society while remaining committed to its mandate of communication for development.
